Why I’m Running for the Thompson School District Board of Education

When my family and I moved to Loveland in 2023, we knew we were planting roots in a place that valued community, connection, and public education. My wife, Kate, teaches in the Thompson School District. Our two daughters attend school here. And like many families in our community, we care deeply about the direction our schools are headed—because what happens in our classrooms today shapes the future of our kids, our neighborhoods, and our world.

That’s why I’m running for the Thompson School District Board of Education: to serve, to listen, and to lead with purpose.

A Life of Service, A Commitment to Community

Before calling Loveland home, I spent over a decade serving our country as a U.S. Navy officer and aviator. I flew missions in the Pacific Rim and the Middle East, leading diverse teams and operating under high-pressure conditions where strategic thinking and accountability were essential. My military service instilled in me a core belief that still guides me today: leadership is about service.

After completing my service, I returned to Colorado—where I was raised in Aurora—and shifted my focus to public impact through technology. I earned my master’s degree in web design and development from the University of Denver and have since spent years building accessible, inclusive digital tools that help people connect, learn, and thrive.

Now, I want to bring that same sense of service and problem-solving to our schools.

What I Stand For

Our schools face complex challenges—from growing achievement gaps to educator retention and student well-being. But I believe we can meet those challenges with honesty, collaboration, and bold ideas. These are the core issues I’m running on:

Equity in Education

Every student deserves access to high-quality learning opportunities—no matter their zip code, language, background, or ability. I will advocate for early intervention, inclusive curriculum, and programs that support underserved students.

Mental Health and Student Support

Our students are navigating an increasingly complex world. We must prioritize mental health resources in every school—ensuring students are safe, supported, and emotionally ready to learn.

Support for Educators

Our district can’t retain great teachers if we don’t pay them what they’re worth. I support raising teacher salaries to remain competitive with neighboring districts and building a culture where educators feel respected and empowered.

Safe and Inclusive Schools

I will push for policies that ensure every student feels welcome and protected at school—regardless of race, gender, ability, or background. This includes improving anti-bullying efforts and fostering restorative practices.

Career and College Readiness

Whether a student’s path leads to college, a trade, or the workforce, we must prepare them for success. That means expanding career and technical education, dual enrollment, and hands-on learning.

Why Now

The decisions made by the school board shape everything from curriculum to hiring practices to how we support struggling students. I’m running because I believe the board should reflect the values of our entire community—and should be led by people who put service before politics.

As a veteran, a designer, a husband, and a father, I bring a unique perspective and deep sense of purpose to this role. I don’t have all the answers, but I know how to ask the right questions, listen with empathy, and work hard to find real solutions.

I’m not running to make headlines. I’m running to make a difference—for my kids, for your kids, and for the future of public education in Thompson.

Thank you for believing in our schools, our teachers, and our students. I hope to earn your support—and your vote.
